Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a deep cleaner and a steam cleaner?

Many people refer to a carpet deep cleaner as a "steam cleaner." While steam cleaners do exist, these should be used for hard surfaces only, and should not be used to clean carpet. A steam cleaner uses actual steam to clean various types of surfaces, and this steam can damage carpet fibers and remove the protection. A carpet deep cleaner is designed to force a mixture of hot water and cleaning solution into the carpet to clean deep down. The solution and dirt are then extracted from the carpet, leaving the fibers and carpet base clean. So unlike actual steam cleaners, a carpet deep cleaner does not use steam.

How often should I have my carpets deep cleaned?

Deep cleaning is an effective way to prolong the look and life of your carpet and upholstery.  It is recommend to have your carpet deep cleaned at least twice per year and more often if you have children, pets, allergies or smoke.

How often should I have my upholstery deep cleaned?

It’s generally best to have your upholstery deep cleaned at least once per year. If there are no children or pets in the house, that could be adequate. However, if you have a lot of traffic, cats or dogs, sweaty kids in and out, etc – then your upholstery could be getting dirty quickly and need more frequent cleaning – up to three or four times a year.

Does carpet deep cleaning work on all carpets and fabrics?

The machines we use are safe and effective on virtually all carpets, although certain wools require extra care. As for upholstery fabrics, silk and velvet should not be deep cleaned.

How long will it take my carpets to dry after deep cleaning?

Drying time will vary by the type of carpet, and thickness of the pad. On average, it's best to wait one to two hours before walking on the carpet after carpet cleaning. Turning on fans and circulating the air, also helps to speed up drying times.
